Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of Pharmacists, and primarily prepare and fill prescriptions for customers. In Petra’s 48-hour course students will become acquainted with the proper handling of medications and be taught how to adequately perform the primary job duties of a Pharmacy Technician.

- Must be able to pass a state and federal background check (Required by Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy)

Job Duties
- Collect information needed to fill a prescription from customers or health professionals
- Prepare and measure dosage medications to be dispensed
- Compound or mix select medications
- Prepare intravenous medications
- Assist in dispensing medication under direct supervision of Pharmacist
- Package and label prescriptions
- Organize inventory and order medications or supplies
- Accept payment for prescriptions and process insurance claims
- Enter customer or patient information, including any prescriptions taken, into a computer system

- Hospitals or Clinics which dispense medication directly to patients.
